But here is one issue I have not yet figured out. Only issue I have is the tiny screen so it would be wonderful if my cars Nav screen would display it as well. My cell can do there work, including navigation and they claim they have a billion full time monitoring points so they can almost immediately make you aware of trouble ahead and reroute accordingly. My opinion is that OnStar is near useless as well because of that limitation. So if you need help from an area that does not have cell service, you really have a problem. Remember early commercials where they showed it bouncing signal from satelite, back when cell phones were very few or did not exist. Also XM no longer, if they ever did, use the SATCOMM system. If GM really cared they'd convert the system to something more modern and fix no signal issues for XM and Nav. That also makes OnStar useless for downloading directions since it needs to know where you are to tell you when to turn. And the way their system is a new disk can do that.Īnd on one occasion when I needed the Nav in the worst way, I was getting a no GPS signal. The turn out was there but in 20' I was looking at 5 strands of barb wire, at night! It was a pasture. And on one occasion it routed me to a road never built.
